The Orestimba boys' volleyball team fought hard but concluded their season on a challenging streak.
The Warriors faced the Hilmar Yellowjackets on April 22 in a tightly contested rematch that mirrored their previous meeting back in March. While Orestimba had emerged victorious with a 3-2 win in their earlier matchup, the tables turned this time as Hilmar edged out the Warriors by the same 3-2 score.
Despite the loss, Orestimba displayed remarkable resilience, outscoring the Yellowjackets overall across five sets (105-90). The match featured intense play, with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 16-25, 8-25, and a nail-biting 16-14 finish. Yet, the Warriors were forced to settle for second place on the day.
Unfortunately, the team’s struggles continued as they fell to Big Valley Christian Lions on April 24, marking their third consecutive defeat. This loss came in a 3-1 match that showcased Orestimba's determination, particularly in the fourth set, which ended with an extraordinary 35-33 scoreline. The Lions had previously triumphed over Orestimba twice earlier in the season, including a 3-0 victory in March.
With no further games on their schedule, the Warriors wrap up their season with an 8-11 overall record and a 4-8 standing in league play, finishing in fifth place in the Trans Valley League. Though the season ended with its share of hurdles, the Warriors can reflect on their spirited efforts and memorable moments on the court.
