Stanislaus County residents of all ages are invited to take part in the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge, which runs June 1 through July 31 and encourages readers to log their books or reading time throughout the summer.
The program includes three age‑based challenges: ages 0–5, ages 6–17 and adults 18 and older. Children ages 0–5 will track the number of books they read, while older children, teens and adults will track minutes spent reading. Participants may sign up online through Beanstack or pick up a paper reading log at any library branch.
Those who complete the challenge will receive a free tote bag, while supplies last. Readers can also take part in optional activity challenges to earn extra tickets for prize drawings.
The library will host a free summer performer series for families, featuring programs from the Stanislaus Farm Bureau, Diggery Digger’s Dino Adventure and magician Shawn Durham. Additional events throughout the summer include gardening workshops with Master Gardeners, teen Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and a variety of arts and creativity programs for all ages.
Library officials said the Summer Reading Challenge offers a way for families to stay engaged, learn new skills and enjoy activities out of the summer heat. A full schedule of events is available on the library’s online calendar, and readers may sign up for the challenge at stanislauslibrary.beanstack.com.
