Comcast completes Gustine broadband expansion

Comcast has continued to expand broadband connectivity in communities across California and recently completed an expansion project that extends high-speed internet service throughout the City of Gustine.

GUSTINE — More than 2,300 homes and businesses in Gustine now have access to high-speed internet service through an expansion of Comcast’s Xfinity network, the company announced this week.

The project was funded through a public-private partnership between Comcast and Merced County using federal American Rescue Plan Act funds along with private investment from the company. The expansion extends broadband infrastructure throughout the city and brings additional internet service options to local residents and businesses.

“The completion of this expansion is a meaningful investment in Gustine and our community’s future,” Mayor Pat Nagy said in a statement. “Reliable, advanced connectivity is critical for local businesses, students and families, and we appreciate Comcast’s commitment to delivering improved infrastructure that helps our city continue to grow and stay competitive.”

According to Comcast, the upgraded network provides access to multi-gigabit internet service for homes and businesses across Gustine. The company said the project is part of its ongoing efforts to expand broadband access in communities throughout California.

The expansion adds another provider to Gustine’s growing broadband landscape. In March 2025, unWired Broadband announced plans for its NextGen Fiber Internet network in the city. The multi-million-dollar project is expected to bring fiber internet service to nearly 2,500 addresses by mid-2026. Construction on that network began last year.

The availability of additional broadband infrastructure comes as reliable internet access continues to play an increasingly important role in education, business operations, remote work and access to online services.
